AmaWaterways Introduces “City Escapes” River Cruise Collection

AmaWaterways has announced a new river cruise collection called City Escapes, designed for travelers who want more time to experience Europe’s most iconic cities.

Sailing in November and December, these itineraries focus on extended stays of 24 hours or more in destinations like Paris, Amsterdam, Vienna, Strasbourg, and Budapest—allowing guests to explore without feeling rushed.

A Different Pace of River Cruising

The City Escapes concept was created to give travelers a deeper connection to each destination, especially during a quieter time of year. With fewer crowds in late fall and early winter, guests can enjoy a more relaxed and immersive experience in some of Europe’s most popular cities.

These itineraries have been adapted from existing AmaWaterways sailings and will begin launching this year, with additional expansion planned for 2027.

What to Expect

City Escapes cruises will operate along the Seine, Rhine, and Danube rivers, with longer stays in key ports such as:

  • Paris, Rouen, and Normandy on the Seine

  • Strasbourg, Heidelberg, Cologne, and Amsterdam on the Rhine

Each day includes a combination of locally guided tours and free time, giving you the flexibility to explore independently or join curated experiences.

An Elevated Onboard Experience

In addition to immersive itineraries, guests can enjoy a selection of beer, wine, and cocktails included as part of the onboard experience—adding to the ease and comfort of river cruising.

Why It Stands Out

City Escapes offers a different approach to river cruising—one that prioritizes time in destination over constant movement, making it ideal for travelers who want to slow down and truly experience each city.
