Preparing for Your Viking Cruise: Final Travel Checklist
This final Viking cruise checklist will help you complete the important preparations before departure so you can travel with confidence. Review your passport, My Viking Journey account, airline and Viking apps, cell phone plan, and final travel documents to ensure everything is ready for your upcoming Viking Cruise. Taking care of these details now will help you avoid last-minute surprises and focus on enjoying the journey ahead.
Review Passport and ID Requirements
Before your trip, locate your passport and take a few minutes to verify the following:
Your passport is valid for at least six (6) months beyond your scheduled disembarkation date. Many countries require this for entry, even if your passport has not yet expired.
The name on your passport exactly matches the name on your Viking Guest Information Form and airline reservation (if Viking has arranged your airfare). This includes your first name, middle name(s), last name, suffix (if applicable), and any hyphens or spaces. A mismatch could result in being denied boarding.
If you notice any discrepancies or have questions about your travel documents, contact me as soon as possible so we can address them before you travel.
Review My Viking Journey
Now is a great time to log in to My Viking Journey and complete a final review of your trip details. Confirm that your shore excursions, air itinerary (if booked through Viking Air), guest documents, and travel requirements are accurate and complete.
If you have added a pre- or post-cruise extension, review those itineraries as well so you know what to expect before and after your voyage. You can also take a moment to review your cruise preferences and make any updates before departure.
Download Airline App
If you haven't already, download your airline's mobile app and sign in to your account. This allows you to familiarize yourself with the app and ensure your reservation is linked before you travel. Most airlines open online check-in 24 hours before departure, and the app is the easiest way to access your boarding pass, receive flight updates, and stay informed of any schedule changes.
Download Viking Voyager App
A few days before your departure, your cruise details may no longer appear on the My Viking Journey webpage.
Once you’re onboard, you’ll transition to using the Viking Voyager App, where you can easily access your daily schedule, shore excursions, and information about each destination throughout your journey.
Download the app now to prepare for your trip:
Contact Your Cell Phone Carrier
Before you travel, contact your cell phone provider to learn about international coverage and roaming charges. Many carriers offer international travel plans that can save money and help you avoid unexpected fees. If you don't have an international plan, consider using Wi-Fi whenever possible for calls, texts, and data.
Final Cruise Documents
Tickets and other travel documents will be issued approximately 3 weeks prior to departure. Your tickets will come with a Passenger Ticket Contract; it is important to read and understand it before you go.
In addition to your electronic documents, approximately 14 to 45 days prior to your departure you will receive a package in the mail which will include your personalized embarkation tags and one red transfer sticker per guest if applicable.
